Seven-year-old Kaheel is looking for a sighthound savvy home with people who understand the temperament of salukis.
Shy at first, but once he warms up to people he's ready to accept endless pets. Kaheel can be a little nervous in new surroundings, but should flourish with an understanding owner by his side. He is an easy and gentle boy and a bit of an old soul who loves to stop and take in his surroundings.
He's a handsome and easy "go with the flow" kind of boy. Kaheel loves to snuggle with people he's comfortable with and has taught himself how to slip his snoot into pockets to search for treats. He is happy to help remind you when he needs a pet by giving you a gentle nudge. Kaheel walks well on leash and enjoys riding in the car and loves to have the wind blow on his face.
Kaheel would be best suited for a calm home with no or older children and to be an only dog, He is fine meeting calm small dogs outside the home but noisy or high-energy dogs seem to overwhelm him. He has shown curiosity with cats, but it is unknown if he is cat safe. Someone who is home most of the time is preferable for Kaheel, but he is fine to be alone for a couple of hours at a time.
Kaheel is in good health and has been successfully treated for ehrlichia.
He is making good progress building up his muscles since proper care wasn't provided in his past life in the Arab Emirates.
Resources can be provided to help you learn about salukis, because although they're sighthounds, they are different from greyhounds and galgos.
Kaheel arrived in the US in January 2021 and is looking for a home in Northern California.
