Canelo is a gentle Galgo with a very special gaze – cautious, loving, and full of feeling. His eyes tell a quiet story, one that begins with reserve, but also reveals a deep longing for closeness and security. He is not a dog who pushes himself forward. Canelo observes first, calmly taking in his surroundings and gently bestowing his trust – but once earned, it is something truly precious. Then he reveals his tender, loving soul and fully enjoys being petted.

Canelo gets along well with other dogs and likes to look to them for guidance. He moves through life gracefully, quietly, and respectfully – typical of a Galgo: sensitive, perceptive, and incredibly charming. Having spent a long time in the shelter, this older gentleman has put on a few extra pounds, but nothing that can't be easily remedied in his new home with plenty of walks and exercise.

For two and a half long years, Canelo has been waiting for his chance at the Recal animal shelter. High time this handsome, sweet boy is finally seen. Canelo longs for people with patience, heart, and understanding who will show him that he has come home and that love is nothing to be afraid of. Whoever gives him time will gain a loyal companion who loves quietly but deeply.
